If you want to explore Andalusia on old roads and paths, you are welcome at the farm of El Rincon de Tablas.

Our farm is situated in an idyllic valley in the middle of a partly hilly, partly rocky landscape of Sierra Cabrera, a picturesque mountain range surrounded by deserted hills between Almerˇa and Murcia. The distance from the farm to the coast is 18 km, 5 km to a small settlement. No neighbours. No noise. Plenty of space.

Natural living

With 325 days of sunshine we do not need power from the grid. No ugly poles destroy the view, allowing to see to Africa on a clear day. The sun supplies our energy, water comes from our own springs, we grow our own vegetables, organic, of course. On our farm you live in modern and confortable self-sufficient appartments, you can do your own cooking.

Time to relax

We are looking foreward to seeing you on our farm from September to June. Spring and autumn is the best time to visit us, but the Andalusian winter is very agreeable, too. To see the flowering almond trees in February is wonderful. No need to worry about cool nights, specially from December to February: Central heating and a wood burner in the living room will guarantee cosyness and pleasant evenings.

Watch the group in their pasture - the tranquillity they radiate, you will forget all your stressful and hectic life. Meeting this meek, friendly animals means sheer relaxation. But our donkeys are not only pets! For centuries big donkeys were bred in Spain being able to carry average weight adults easily. Their height and carrying capacity corresponds to the Icelandic pony. Their temperament is calm and peaceful, children and beginners can ride without danger, but their brisk walk allows them to go on quickly. The soft steps allow you to enjoy even long rides without stiffness and soreness

Exploring the country

To discover Andalusia from the back of a donkey is a very special experience that keeps you to understand the land and his history much better. The excursions are planned for your requirements: Also short walks and trekking for several days with overnight stays in tents or small guest houses.

We supply all the essential information and maps to explore the mountains on donkey-free days hiking or biking.

Excursions by car: The coastline nearby is almost natural. Mojacar, one of the "White Villages" of Andalusia with moorish history (18 km) offers aquatic sports and shops. The nearest restaurants and a nine hole golf course are at Cortijo Grande (5 km). If you intend to explore deeply into the Moorish history of Andalusia and plan a visit to Granada with its historic sites we are happy to organize the excursion for you.
