El alimoche (Egyptian vulture)

Su distribución es toda la península exceptuando una gran parte de Galicia, Murcia, Valencia y la costa de Barcelona.

Longitud: 50-76 cm.

Envergadura: 150-180 cm, frecuente, migrador, carroñero.

Solo puede ser confundido por su coloración con el águila calzada en fase clara. Suele estar en lugares quebrados y solitarios donde instala su tosco nido, en la península y las islas hay unas 1000 parejas de esta ave aproximadamente. Su alimentación es a base de carroña pero si pilla un huevo de avestruz lo casca, coge una piedra con el pico y la lanza repetidamente al huevo hasta que se casca.
